2022 Bursaries & Encouragement Awards
The 2022 Annual Bursary and Encouragement Awards were announced and presented at the combined Annual General Meetings of the Air Force Association Victoria Vietnam Veterans Branch and the RAAF Sub-Branch Vietnam Veterans Association (Vic) on Sunday 20 February 2022.
The bursaries are sponsored by the Victorian Branch of the Air Force Association (AFA), with two separate Encouragement Awards, named in honour of past members of the RAAFVVA: John ‘Snow’ Coughlan CGM and former President, Lee Scully and his wife Ellen.
A Bursary and an Encouragement Award were presented to Charlotte Manikhot, the granddaughter of 2 SQN Branch President, Walter Sherman. Charlotte will be undertaking a Bachelor of Psychological Science at the Australian Catholic University. Max McGregor, President AFA Victoria presented the Bursary and Gill Coughlan, ‘Snow’s’ widow, presented the Encouragement Award honouring her late husband.
A Bursary and an Encouragement Award were also presented to Jessica Bialobrzeski, the granddaughter of GPCAPT Carl Schiller OAM, CSM (Retd). Jessica will be continuing her Bachelor of Criminology & Psychology studies at RMIT University.
Max McGregor presented the Bursary on behalf of AFA Victoria and Chris Hudnott, President of the AFA Victoria Vietnam Veterans Branch, presented the ‘Lee and Ellen Scully’ Encouragement Award, on behalf of RAAFVVA.
