AFA Submission to Honours & Awards Inquiry

The Air Force Association has welcomed the opportunity to provide input to the Government's Defence Honours and Awards Appeals Tribunal on the notion of recognising members and families of Australian Defence Force members who are injured, wounded or killed in or because of service.

On 21 January 2021, Government announced that the Inquiry following preliminary consultation and advice from the Council of Women and Families United by Defence Service.

Minister for Defence Personnel Darren Chester said, “The Tribunal will undertake a broader consideration to acknowledge those who have been injured, wounded, or killed as a result of their ADF service, and the impact on their families.”

“The Tribunal is the independent, expert body established to consider Defence honours and awards and is the most appropriate body to consider recognition for ADF members and their families.
