At its AGM on 18 February, the Vietnam Veterans Branch once again presented Educational Bursaries and Encouragement Awards to two deserving AFA Victoria family members

In announcing the educational Bursary and Encouragement Award recipients, Vietnam Veterans' Branch President Chris Hudnott noted that coincidentally, both recipients this year were daughters of Air Force Nursing officers. He thanked the students for their applications and wished them well in their studies and future careers.

AFA Victoria President, John Clarkson presented a bursary to Charlize Long (below left) and Chris followed this with the Lee and Ellen Scully Encouragement Award (below right), with an explanation of the origin of the award included with the certificate.

AFA Victoria Immediate Past President Max McGregor presented the second bursary to Eloise Potter (below left).  Chris then invited Gill Coughlan to present the John ‘Snow’ Coughlan CGM Encouragement Award to Eloise (below right) and noted that a short description of Snow’s gallantry in Vietnam was attached to the certificate.

The Air Force Association - Victoria provided funding for the bursaries and will continue supporting the Vietnam Veterans Branch with this long-standing and important initiative.

The first bursaries were awarded in February 2010 and since then have assisted almost 40 young students of Air Force veterans with their education or training endeavours.
