Apply Now for an AVCAT Scholarship
Applications for the 2025 AVCAT Scholarships are now open until 31 October 2024.
The Australian Veterans' Children Assistance Trust (AVCAT) was established in 1985 to support Vietnam Veterans exposed to Agent Orange during the Vietnam War.
Today, AVCAT continues to support veteran families through tertiary scholarships for children and grandchildren of Australian ex-serving veterans, providing financial support ranging from $4000 to $6000 per year, for up to three years.
Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Enrolled, or planning to enrol, in a full-time course for at least one academic year at a university, TAFE or RTO in 2025.
- The child, stepchild, foster child, or grandchild of an Australian ex-serving veteran.
- An Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- In receipt of, or eligible to receive in 2025, a means-tested Commonwealth educational payment such as Youth Allowance, ABSTUDY, Austudy, the Veterans’ Children Education Scheme (VCES) or the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act Education and Training Scheme (MRCAETS).
The Long Tan Bursary, sponsored by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, is one of the many scholarships available through AVCAT.
